The BlueGAP Information System (BlueGAP-IS).

BlueGAP-IS is our newly created online platform

for sustained and continued engagement with stories and data about nitrogen pollution.

Water quality data is not easily accessible to everyday people due to unorganized scattering of databases, and other reasons. Stories from citizens and communities about the effects of poor nitrogen management on their health and well-being are normally unheard. BlueGAP-IS was built to create a user-friendly centralized solution for both.

AI Answers with Integrity

BlueGAP-IS includes artificial intelligence (AI) tools as a framework for visitors to develop their action plans and learn practical next steps. Visitors may ask questions about nitrogen pollution and retrieve answers rooted in sound resources vetted by BlueGAP and its partners. Visitors are encouraged to use the AI planner repeatedly over time as BlueGAP continually works to develop ethical protocols for integration of additional content into the system’s AI tools.

Empowering Communities Through Stories

Building upon lessons learned from working with community “Champions” throughout the country, our team of scientists, researchers, engineers, social scientists, and more, discovered a combination of compelling stories with locally-relevant data can inspire communities and individuals to take action and make decisions that can directly improve the quality of life for people and the natural world.
